| A World Wide Vision Celebration
As we begin 2013, we would like to share with you how the Essilor Vision Foundation has grown. 2012 was a fantastic year of exposure for the Foundation. Every month was busy with clinics and screenings at various schools around the nation. The year began with Essilor Vision Foundation participating in Kids Vision Fest held at Tarrant County College where free vision screenings were offered to any child in attendance. During the summer, the Foundation worked with Boys and Girls clubs and juvenile detention centers in the DFW area, providing screenings and glasses to children in need. In June, the Foundation hosted a charity golf event in New York, benefiting children with vision problems in NY and NJ receive vision services. Later in the year, we hosted a charity golf event in Las Colinas where $26,000 was raised. In September, the Foundation added two new board members, Joel Shannon and Dr. Raymund King. Recently John Carrier has also joined the board, replacing Hubert Sagnieres. The Foundation participated with Special Olympics and attended the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City supporting SOI, where they were presented with a $12 million check from Tom Golisano. In October, we launched our Employee Giving Campaign which raised $32,424. We are excited to see our United States employees give back to the community through announcing their commitment to raise $1,000,000 by 2015. The campaign kick-off was concluded on World Sight Day- an internationally recognized day by organizations involved in preventing visual impairment and rehabilitation for visual impairment. By the end of the year, the Foundation visited hundreds of schools across America. In 2012 alone, more than 46,000 children were provided free vision screenings and vision exams, of which 15,000 received new eyeglasses. As you can see, we have had an exciting year at EVF! We want to express our sincerest gratitude to you for your constant support through donations and volunteering your time. Please stay tuned for an update of everything to come in 2013! Steve |
